Congratulations! I have been invited to serve in Thailand!

Dear James,

Congratulations! It is with great pleasure that we invite you to begin training in Thailand for Peace Corps service. You will be joining thousands of Americans who are building stronger communities around the world. This call to action gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and to find the best in yourself.

In the past, this letter would arrive in a blue envelope, and people would eagerly open it to discover where they were being sent. Now, it’s just an email, but the thrill remains the same. When I read the subject line “Peace Corps – Invitation!” after a long day at work, I was suddenly filled with energy. I couldn’t wait to share the news with friends and family, and the response was overwhelming. Even days later, I’m still riding the adrenaline rush from this monumental moment.

So, let me share some of the key details I have now:

Country: THAILAND
Program: Teacher Collaboration and Community Service (TCCS)
Job Title: Teacher Collaborator and Community Facilitator
Staging Dates: January 10, 2014
Training (in Thailand ): January 13, 2014 – March 23, 2014
Dates of Service: March 23, 2014 – March 22, 2016

The Teacher Collaboration and Community Service (TCCS) project is geared to support school teachers in rural Thailand to improve and apply participatory learning methods, especially in the English classroom. The scope of the Volunteer’s work, however, is not limited to the classroom. Volunteers are encouraged to collaborate with teachers and community members to enhance the quality of life through the promotion of life skills and the development of the school community.

As I continue to learn and prepare for this journey, I promise to keep you updated. 😊 Let’s embark on this adventure together!

Thank you for being a part of my support network as I begin my service in Thailand. I’m eager to share my experiences and discoveries along the way. If you have any questions or thoughts to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can make a positive impact and build stronger communities!
