Amazing Buddhist Center backyard transformation

Now that I got a replacement camera, thought I’d update you on the garden project, or ‘Backyard Transformation’. I lived here 6 months before I even knew we had a backyard. Well, it wasn’t much of one even then. When Ven. Gyatso was here, he planted marigolds and sunflowers but still kind of a sad garden. So, in August, I decided it needed some loving care. And here is the partial result.

Next spring I’ll finish the ‘transformation’. The dirt along the fence will be brick flower boxes. The dirt along the building will be raised brick vegetable boxes. The center will have a brick patio. There is a man-hole cover so I created a fake twin on the other side to keep the symmetry. Planted grass seed from Canada so hopefully it will survive the winter. I believe the sun is a bit strong here, almost too strong. The grass has grown faster where there was a little shade and almost not at all where there was full sun. Go figure.

Anyway, I still take a chair out when I can and enjoy my little bit of countryside in the city.
